Two former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members in Palawan finally heeded the government’s call for peace. They voluntarily surrendered to Puerto Princesa City Police authorities on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
Puerto Princesa City Police Office Director Roberto Bucad revealed that “Ka JV”, 29, hails from Sitio Little Caramay, Brgy. Magara, Roxas, Palawan, and “Ka Jetli” 31, from Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City, voluntarily surrendered to the elements of City Mobile Force Company led by PLTCol. Victor Lacwasan in Barangay Luzviminda, of the said city about 3:20 PM.
“Ka JV” likewise turned in one Cal .30 Carbine rifle with nine live ammunition.
The surrender of “Ka JV” and “Ka Jetli” was a result of the relentless efforts of the intelligence units of Puerto Princesa City Police Office, in collaboration with the CIU, PS2, PPCPO; CIT-Puerto Princesa City, and PIT Palawan RIU4B; CIT PAL RID 4B; PIB; 2nd Palawan PPMFC; MIG 22; MBLT 3 PMC; and Puerto Princesa City Anti-Crime Task Force in coordination with the Kapatiran ng Dating Rebelde (KADRE).
The former CTG members are now under the custody of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office for debriefing prior to their enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
Records show that Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, under the leadership of Police Brigadier Sidney Hernia, had already scored 98 surrendered CTG members from January 1 to August 4, 2022.
Meanwhile, PBGen Hernia commended the efforts of the concerned police and military units, including the community, in the said accomplishment and reiterated his call for the peaceful surrender of the remaining CTG members in MIMAROPA.
“This is a product of our commitment to securing our region against the threat of communist terrorism under NTF ELCAC (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict). I urge all remaining CTG members to withdraw their allegiance from the CPP-NDF-NPA because the government guarantees benefits to all former rebels when they surrender”, PBGen Hernia remarked.
