Melinda Galindez Tan-Fadriquelan- a key official of the Department of Education- Schools Division of Romblon, known to be striking and an outstanding natural leader who set and upheld the agency standards for the pursuit of better education, bows out of the education service.
Teaching and Non-Teaching personnel of the SDO-Romblon bid her farewell last February 2 in a manner that every employee would wish. To offer a leave-taking exit- which the outgoing Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) Chief Fadriquelan, as she reckons the underpinning cradle of her years-is an apt acknowledgement for she’s been an important persona to the entire agency in running a good ship and has been a key part of creating a productive institution.
She’s the model of what you want in a government official- a high integrity person and what I can remember with Ma’am Mely with all the working traits that she has is-Respect. She respects me so much in all official transactions and in return, I respect her so much because of all the things she does in her work, OIC-SDS Roger F. Capa said.
Fadriquelan had worked for the agency for 37 fruitful years and prior to her ascent as SGOD Chief, she held several key positions in the DepEd.
She rose from the ranks with humble beginning. She’d been a member faculty of Romblon National High School in 1980, preceding the position of an Administrative Officer in 1983 to 1989. In 1992, Fadriquelan Officer-In- Charge of Macario Molina National High School played a big role for its establishment and opening as an independent school. She had been promoted to Principal I of Alcantara National High School in 1995 and it took her 3 years to be promoted as Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan in 1998.
Mely, 65, said “the last 37 years of being a part of DepEd has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life” but that she will “miss those people who made my work so pleasurable and enjoyable.”
“If there’s hello, there is goodbye and a true winner see the beginning of every ending. My departure is the only end of concept and theory but the start of more challenging journey ahead and more friendships and bonding with the rest. Our home in Odiongan and Romblon both open to all of you.” furtherly she said.
When asked what is her plan after retirement she said “I will spend more time with my family, travel abroad and enjoy my life to the fullest.”
