The Department of Science and Technology MIMAROPA and the Provincial Science and Technology Office Romblon is inviting local inventors, innovators, and researchers to participate in this year’s Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE).
During the recent Kapihan sa PIA Romblon, Mae Angelica Famini of DOST MIMAROPA announced that the competition is open to participants from MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and the Bicol Region. The event aims to recognize outstanding contributions to science and technology through innovation and research.
Famini emphasized that the contest is open to both public and private sector inventors and researchers.
Participants can compete in various categories, including Outstanding Invention, Outstanding Utility Model, Outstanding Industrial Design, Outstanding Creative Research, and the Sibol Award for Outstanding Student Creative Research (for both high school and college students).
She also noted that DOST is actively reaching out to schools that previously participated in the competition, encouraging them to join again.
Winners will receive cash prizes and the opportunity to represent the three regions in the National Invention Contest and Exhibits.
Interested participants can apply through the official DOST MIMAROPA pages or visit the nearest DOST office in their area. The deadline for applications is March 15.
