The MIMAROPA region is free from political hotspots, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) MIMAROPA said as the 2025 National and Local Midterm Elections approaches.
Lawyer Gloria Ramos-Petallo, COMELEC MIMAROPA Regional Election Director, said during the latest episode of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on November 5, that law enforcement agencies have reported no political hotspots in the region as of date.
“Just last week, nagkaroon po kami ng coordinating conference with NICA (National Intelligence Coordinating Agency)…as reported po ng AFP [at ng] PNP, buong [MIMAROPA region] po is, sa ngayon po, ay very peaceful,” Petallo said.
(Just last week, we had a coordinating conference with NICA and as reported by the AFP and the PNP, the MIMAROPA region, for now, is very peaceful.)
She added that law enforcement agencies and other government offices are directed to assist COMELEC in preparing for the upcoming election, and preparations will intensify in the coming weeks.
“Dineputize na po ang ating PNP, AFP kasama po ng ibang ahensya like ‘yong Coast Guard [at] DepEd. Mayroon na po tayong resolution…with the concurrence of the President po iyan. Halos lahat po ng agencies, kasama na po ang PIA na kasama po sa information dissemination na ginagawa natin patungkol sa darating na eleksyon,” Petallo said.
(The PNP, AFP, and other agencies such as Coast Guard and DepEd have been deputized with the concurrence of the President. Almost all agencies, including PIA, are part of the information dissemination that we do for the upcoming elections.)
The National and Local Election is set for May 12, 2025. In the MIMAROPA region, there are 2,064,160 registered voters as of October 14. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
