A section of the Sibuyan circumferential road in Sitio Andungao, Barangay Cambijang, Cajidiocan, Romblon was struck by a landslide at around 9:30 PM on Sunday. The landslide left the road impassable due to debris blocking the path, including soil and fallen trees.
According to local netizen Mac Daragat, the road is dangerous for travel as it is slippery, and three motorcycles had already fallen while attempting to cross the muddy area. Daragat also noted that soil and rocks continue to slide down as of 9:42 PM.
Residents near the landslide-hit area in Sitio Andungao have been ordered to evacuate, according to Cajidiocan Mayor Greggy Ramos.
Heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon (Habagat) is believed to have triggered the landslide, with rain still persisting in the area.
On September 14, Romblon Electric Cooperative Inc. also responded to landslides in the same area, repairing electrical lines that were affected.
Daragat mentioned that since Thursday, at least eight landslides have been recorded in their vicinity.
