President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has allotted PhP140 million for standby funds and stockpile to prepare the Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (Mimaropa) region ahead of the La Niña phenomenon.
“At [ngayong] paparating na ang tag-ulan, nais kong ipaalam sa inyo na patuloy pong naghahanda ang inyong pamahalaan para sa anumang maaring mangyari” President Marcos said.
Of the figure, PhP5 million is for standby funds; PhP102,770,100 for food packs; and PhP32,342,633.04 for non-food items, the President said.
President Marcos made the remarks on Thursday during the distribution of PhP952.660 million in financial assistance to farmers, fisherfolk, and their families affected by the El Niño phenomenon in Palawan.
The provinces of Palawan and Romblon are expected to experience below-normal rainfall levels in July.
All provinces across the region are expected to experience near-normal rainfall from August to September, while above-normal levels are expected in October. PND
