The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) MIMAROPA, through its regional office, has provided a total of P4,371,860 in cash assistance to 1,236 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the province of Romblon.
According to a press release from DSWD MIMAROPA, this cash aid was compensation for the work rendered by PWDs in their respective barangays last June. The program falls under the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay – Cash For Work (KKB-CFW) for PWDs, part of DSWD’s Kalahi-CIDSS (Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services) initiative.
Each beneficiary who worked for nine days received P3,555, while those who worked for eight days received P3,160. The beneficiaries came from the towns of Magdiwang, Banton, Corcuera, Calatrava, San Jose, Santa Fe, and Alcantara.
The cash-for-work program for PWDs is a DSWD initiative aimed at providing short-term employment opportunities for PWDs and low-income families with PWD members. This initiative offers temporary work to support these families financially.
In the entire MIMAROPA region, DSWD reported that they disbursed a total of P8,495,660 in cash aid to about 2,396 PWDs through the same program.
