The latest leg of the Bagong Pilipinas town hall meeting in Mimaropa was held in Odiongan, Romblon on May 31, bringing government agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs) into a more personal engagement with government policymakers.
This regional town hall meeting, attended by various government agencies, marks the sixth leg of the town hall meetings in the region since its launch in 2019.
Dubbed as Dagyaw 2024, the program aims to provide an avenue for visible engagement between the government and its people. The event is organized in preparation for the State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
This year, the program focuses on economic and livelihood issues affecting Romblomanons, led by representatives from the Romblon Provincial Public Employment Service Office, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.
The event, organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Department of Budget and Management, and the Philippine Information Agency, provided an opportunity for CSOs to ask questions, share opinions, and offer suggestions.
In his message, Director Rimando expressed his desire for active participation from Romblomanons to advance the province’s development.
“I hope our discussion today will be meaningful, participative, and rich, providing clarity and assistance to everyone,” said Director Rimando.
He emphasized the importance of unity between government agencies and citizens to achieve the shared goal of improving living standards in the province.
“We aspire for us, as government representatives and citizens, to unite with the common goal: No Poverty. Continuous growth in livelihood and additional opportunities. Leave No One Behind,” Director Rimando added.
