Faderogaya stated that the FVCC should be included as a requirement for boat registration with the LGUs, in accordance with Executive Order No. 305 issued by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2004.
Under this directive, fishing boats with a gross tonnage of three or less must first secure an FVCC from the PNP Maritime before being registered with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO).
This requirement is limited to fishing boats and does not apply to tourist boats and passenger vessels.
Faderogaya also mentioned that the Romblon Maritime Police Station is already coordinating with all local government units in the province to amend their ordinances based on EO No. 305.
The purpose of obtaining the clearance is to ensure that the fishing boats being registered have not been involved in illegal activities.
