The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), is preparing to hand over four units of composting facilities for biodegradable wastes to the local government unit (LGU) of Santa Maria and a farmer association.
In a press release issued by the Public Information Office of Santa Maria, it was announced that BSWM has completed their site validation process.
The recipients of the composting facilities include the Municipal Agriculture Office, BLGU Concepcion Norte, BLGU Concepcion Sur, and the Bonga Farmers and Fisherfolks Association.
The facilities will be installed at Concepcion Sur Elementary School and Concepcion Norte Elementary School.
According to the DA, composting plays a vital role in enhancing soil health, reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers, and promoting environmental sustainability through the reduction, reuse, and recycling of biodegradable wastes.
Each recipient will receive a CFBW technology package, which includes one size reduction machine unit and one rotary composter unit.
