Romblon State University (RSU) on Tuesday extended their hand to the senior citizens of Santa Maria, Romblon, in a bid to raise awareness about mental health among the elderly in the municipality.
RSU, in collaboration with the university’s Extension and Technical Advisory Services Office and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Santa Maria, organized a seminar to address the mental health concerns of the senior members of the town.
The Mental Health Awareness for Senior Citizens was attended by at least 178 senior citizens in town.
RSU faculty member Ma. Cristina Caagbay-Venus served as the resource speaker, providing valuable insights into mental health issues among senior citizens and outlining various intervention programs available to address these concerns.
Vice Mayor Roland Merano Largueza during the program expressed his gratitude to the organizers for selecting the town’s elderly population as beneficiaries and affirmed the local government’s commitment to future collaborative outreach activities.
During the seminar, RSU President Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the university’s dedication to the well-being of senior citizens in Santa Maria.
