The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is actively collaborating with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) to address the impact of the recent fire incident at the Manila Central Post Office on Monday, May 22, 2023, on the issuance of PhilIDs.
According to the preliminary information provided by PHLPost, only PhilIDs intended for delivery within the City of Manila were affected by the fire. The PSA is working closely with PHLPost to determine the exact number of PhilIDs that have been impacted.
To clarify any confusion, it is important to note that PhilIDs designated for delivery by PHLPost are sorted and stored at the PHLPost Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, which remained unaffected by the fire.
In a statement, Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, reassured the public that the PSA will replace the PhilIDs affected by the fire at no additional cost to the registered individuals involved, following the established protocols set by the PSA for such situations.
