Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. encourages Filipino researchers and inventors to commercialize their products to help the Philippine economy.
In his recent message during the DOST Mimaropa’s Regional Science & Technology Week (RSTW) Celebration last October 25, Solidum said that science and technology is Pinoy’s partner in every step towards the persistence and development of their daily living.
He also encourages Filipinos to use technologies made by Pinoy scientists.
Solidum also said that DOST will reinvigorate its efforts towards the socio-economic agenda, particularly in areas of agriculture, aquaculture, and food security, in line with the national government priorities.
“The very fact that we all are together today, virtually, is due to science and technology. It is the current primary goal of DOST to inline its major programs and services to the national gov’t priorities,” he said.
The secretary also added that activities like the RSTW celebration will help showcase to the public DOST’s effort to develop new innovations and provide S&T solutions across all sectors and will witness how these innovations and technologies can change the life of the people in the region.
“Mimaropa region has the potential to greatly contribute towards achieving this agenda. Having the geographical advantage its potential in blue economy, and ensuring food security is events given the availability of Science, Technology, and Innovation interventions that seeks to make aquaculture processes smarter and add value to aquatic resources,” Solidum added.
Solidum said that the perennial problems in the region aggravated by its geographic characteristics will be highlighted on DOST programs to introduce the public to the viable technology solutions that will help ease the difficulty the locals in the region are facing.
Meanwhile, Solidum praised what DOST Mimaropa has done regarding digital technologies, such as the development of information systems to help MSMEs.
DOST Mimaropa’s Regional Science & Technology Week (RSTW) Celebration with the theme ‘Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan’ will last until October 28.
