Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director, Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia, lauded the efforts of the different police units in the region as two more communist terrorist group members in Oriental Mindoro voluntarily surrendered to the government authorities on Monday, September 26, 2022.
PBGen Hernia revealed that “Ka Jemar”, 54, a platoon leader of NPA’s Armed Propaganda Unit, and “Ka Maylene”, 46, a former activist and NPA medical officer, voluntarily surrendered to Police Lieutenant John Herman Briones Lat, Officer-in-Charge of the 404th B Maneuver Company under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B located in Barangay Poblacion, Puerto Galera, of the said province.
“Ka Jemar” and “Ka Maylene” likewise turned over one (1) Caliber .38 Smith and Wesson Revolver; one (1) Caliber .22 Pistol; three (3) pieces of Caliber .38 ammunition; six (6) pieces of Caliber .22 ammunition; one (1) Hand Grenade; one (1) Rifle Grenade; 3.26 meters detonating cord (brown); 1.57 meters time fuse; and Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO).
The successful surrender of the said CTG members was made possible through the intelligence support and assistance from the elements of the 4th Platoon, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Provincial Intelligence Unit under Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Unit.
“This direct outcome of the PNP’s relentless counter-insurgency campaign in active partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and other government agencies through the NTF-ELCAC”, PBGen Hernia remarked.
The former rebels are currently undergoing custodial debriefing at RMFB prior enrollment to the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) in order to receive livelihood assistance and incentives for their surrendered firearms.
Records disclosed that Police Regional Office MIMAROPA had already facilitated the surrender of 121 CTG members since January of this year.
“This is a product of our commitment to securing our region against the threat of communist terrorism under NTF ELCAC (National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) with the active support of local government units and other government agencies. May the continuing success of this campaign finally convince the remaining CTG members to finally surrender and return to the folds of the law and become productive citizens of country”, PBGen Hernia added.
