Mimaropa is set to underscore on May 25, the nearly six years of developmental milestones of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration in the region.
The Province of Oriental Mindoro will host the regional Pre-SONA dubbed as “Pamana sa Pagbabago: Kasama sa Pamana” to highlight the accomplishments of the Duterte Administration from infrastructure to the campaign against Covid-19.
The Pre-SONA is facilitated by the Presidential Communications Operations Office in collaboration with the National Economic and Development Authority (Central and Mimaropa regional offices), the Mimaropa Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), the Province of Oriental Mindoro and City Government of Calapan.
Among the notable programs and projects in Mimaropa included improvements in the Puerto Princesa International Airport facility; the Lisap Bridge in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro (2018) where the President witnessed the inauguration; and the Department of Education’s school-based feeding of school chidren (provision of hot meals to undernourished children).
One of the crowning gems of the region is the passage of Regional Development Council-Regional Peace and Order Council Resolution No. 1 Series of 2019 creating the Mimaropa RTF ELCAC which led to the awarding of 13 ECLIP grants to former rebels (with 100 pending grants as of April 16, 2021 reporting) and 116 communist terrorist groups neutralized in nearly 500 military operations.
There will be updating of the Covid-19 Response and the vaccination roll-out.
Expected to join the Pre-SONA are CORDS and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, CABSEC Karlo ALexei Nograles and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Ramon L. Cualoping III, who will represent PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar. (Lyndon Plantilla/PIA Mimaropa)/
