The local chief executive of the town of Romblon, Romblon on Wednesday, January 08, ordered to regulate the conduct of social gathering in this town thru a signed executive order.
Executive Order 03-2020, signed by Mayor Gerard Montojo, said that the conduct of social gatherings and programs such as benefit dances utilizing sound systems shall be limited to 12 midnight only, without any extension of time.
“It has been observed in this town that the conduct of social gatherings such as benefit dances usually last until dawn with the blaring sound system cutting through the stillness of the night,” the order sighted.
“The noise emanating from the sound system proves to be nuisance to people living in the vicinity of the venue, particularly young children and senior citizens, school children and workers who have to take much needed nocturnal rest to recharge energy for the ensuring day,” the order added.
Montojo also sight that trouble usually spark between men who are already drunk come the late hours of the night, and it is ‘very necessary to regulate’ social gatherings to avoid discomforts and to prevent the occurrence of such untoward incidents.
Operators and owners of sound system, including the organizer of the social gathering will be fined an amount of P10,000 when the executive order will be violated.
Fines that will be collected from violators will be added to the general fund of the municipality.
Montojo also warned that police officers who will not implement this order will face appropriate administrative discipline.
