The local government unit of Odiongan town led by the Municipal Civil Registrar’s Office conducted a free mass civil wedding, locally called as ‘Kasalang Bayan’.
From a well-decorated venue to free wedding singers, the 46 couples took advantage of this government-sponsored event to formally vow to each other.
Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic officiated the wedding of the couples who had long hoped to marry their partner.
According to Mayor Fabic, this kind of activity will help reduce the number of illegitimate children and establish a strong foundation for couples and their families.
Meanwhile, the newlyweds thanked the local government for giving them the opportunity to get married through this activity.
“Siyempre, masaya kami dahil ikinasal ipagdidiwang namin ang pasko ngayong taon na kami ay isa ng legal na mag-asawa (Of course, we’re happy because we will celebrated Christmas this year as a married couple),” according to Angelo Forcadas, who marry his wife during the said activity.
After the ceremony, the local government also sponsored a free buffet to all guests who witnessed the historic day of these lovely couples. (PJF/PIA-Mimaropa/Romblon)
