Malacanang is elated by the intensified efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to fight crimes and illegal drugs throughout the country, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said on Sunday.
Coloma said the administration of President Benigno Aquino III did its duty to equip and to improve the crime prevention capability of the PNP.
”Just like the citizenry, the Aquino administration would be pleased to see the PNP continuously improve its performance,” Coloma said in an interview with Radyo ng Bayan.
The PNP has intensified its efforts on the anti-crime and anti-illegal drug fronts since January 2014, reportedly confiscating some Php 13-billion worth of illegal drugs from 54,886 police operations.
The anti-drug campaign of the PNP has also posted a 50.56 percent increase of arrested violators of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, netting 85,749 drug offenders with 71,405 cases have been filed in court.
”The Aquino administration did its duty of equipping the PNP with enough equipment and improving its crime prevention capability,” Coloma said.
President Aquino will be replaced by President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, a crime and anti-illegal drug buster, on June 30. (PNA)
