A suspected drug pusher was killed during an encounter with the police in Luisiana, Laguna at 11:30 Thursday night.
Laguna Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Ronnie Montejo said police were conducting a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Antonio in Luisiana town against Edwin Chavez, Number 4 in the drug watch list, when the suspect sensed the presence of police.
The suspect drew his cal. 38 revolver and fired at the police poseur-buyer, prompting back-up policemen to trade shots with the victim, killing him on the spot.
In another incident, another drug pusher was shot dead during an anti-illegal drug operation in Socorro, Oriental Mindoro.
Socorro Chief of Police Inspector Mark Son Almeranez said they conducted a buy-bust operation against Bartolome Diaz in Barangay Leuteboro Socorro town when the drug suspect detected that he was dealing with a police poseur-buyer.
The suspect fired his cal. 38 revolver at the police, prompting them to retaliate. He was rushed to the Grace Mission Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Recovered from the slain suspect is a sachet of the illegal drug shabu and a cal. 38 revolver. (PNA)
