The Romblon Police Provincial Office (RPPO) has intensified security measures across the province in preparation for Holy Week and the summer vacation rush.
Provincial Director Col. Rexton Sawi emphasized the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) commitment to maintaining peace and order during this period.
“We want the public to know that the PNP is committed to further intensifying efforts to maintain peace and order in key areas throughout the Holy Week, and for the duration of the summer vacation,” said PCOL Sawi.
The heightened security will focus on ensuring the safety of vital installations, tourist destinations, bus terminals, seaports, and airports.
“We have set up over 24 Police Assistance Desks (PADs) across the province, particularly in places of worship, major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, roads, and tourist spots,” Sawi noted.
He also assured the public that a strong police presence will be in place, with over 278 PNP personnel, including 51 officers in augmentation from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and 87 personnel from advocacy groups such as barangay tanods, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO), and traffic enforcers.
Sawi said that these efforts aim to ensure maximum visibility and a swift response to any situation, keeping both residents and visitors safe throughout Holy Week and the summer season.
