Romblon governor Jose R. Riano lauded the active support and involvement of the members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of MIMAROPA in pushing and implementing development programs in the region.
In his message during the first quarter RDC Full Council Meeting, March 7, in Pasay City, Riano said that the Council has been instrumental in the development gains of MIMAROPA.
“Mula sa pagplano ng mga proyekto at programa, pagpapalawak ng imprastruktura, pagpapalago ng ekonomiya at pagtutok sa ibat-ibang sektor ng lipunan— hindi matatawaran ang naging bunga ng ating kolektibong aksyon dito sa RDC,” he said, citing the various plans and measures proposed and approved during the series of council meetings.
He stressed “Ang mga plano at polisiya tulad ng Luzon Spatial Development Framework, MIMAROPA Regional Physical Framework Plan 2025-2055, the 2024 Regional Development Report, Sustainable Development Goals Catch-Up Plan at ang patuloy na pagsasagawa ng masusing pagpaplano ng badyet na nakapaloob sa Updated MIMAROPA Regional Development Investment Program 2023-2028, FY 2026 Annual Investment Program at FY 2025 Agency Budget ay ilan lamang sa mga mahahalagang dokumento na masusi nating pinag-aralan dito sa RDC.”
Riano added that the RDC has been active in pushing the advocacies of the various sectors in the region, including those for women, education, Indigenous Peoples, private sector, travelers and commuters, and laborers, among others.
He said that the plans and programs in the region are being enhanced to ensure an inclusive progress for all.
“Ngayon pa lamang, hayaan ninyo akong magbigay ng pasasalamat sa lahat ng bumubuo sa RDC MIMAROPA para sa inyong walang-sawang suporta at dedikasyon para maisagawa ang ating tungkulin at misyon sa ating rehiyon,” said Riano.
He also urged everyone to continue to work together for a productive, more resilient and progressive future for the MIMAROPA region.
Meanwhile, approved during the recent RDC Full Council Meeting were the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Proposals by various agencies, particularly those under the Development Administration Committee, Economic Development Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee and Social Development Committee.
Also approved were The Panahon ng Pagkilos: PH Community Resilience Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Comprehensive Action Plan towards Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, Philippine Development Plan for Culture and the Arts 2024-2029, Establishment of Local Culture and Arts Office and the Creation of Culture and Arts Office Position/Designation in Local Government Units, Calendar Year 2025 RDC Work Program, and the confirmation of MIMAROPA State Universities and Colleges as members of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC).
