The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is drafting plans to establish an Innovation Hub (iHub) to support student researchers and innovators from the province of Romblon.
According to Mae Angelica Famini, Science and Technology Officer of DOST-Romblon, the iHub will serve as a co-working space where students and researchers can access free internet and available gadgets to help develop their ideas and projects.
“This initiative aims to support students in the ideation stage. If they have ideas that could benefit the community but lack access to gadgets, computers, or the internet, they can come to the iHub,” Famini explained during the Kapihan sa PIA Romblon on February 25.
She also shared that experts will be invited to mentor and guide students and researchers in refining their projects and innovations.
The iHub is expected to be set up at the DOST MIMAROPA Provincial Science and Technology Office in Odiongan, Romblon and will serve as a resource center for young innovators and researchers in the province.
