The capital town of Romblon, Romblon, is set to celebrate the much-anticipated Biniray Festival with two major highlights: the traditional Tonton ceremony on January 10 and the grand street dancing competition on January 11.
The Tonton, a revered local tradition, involves the fluvial parade of the image of Señor Santo Niño de Romblon, a practice rooted in faith and devotion. It is not yet official, but the local government unit of Romblon declares a special non-working holiday in the island municipality during Tonton every year.
On January 11, the festivities will continue with the highlight of the Biniray Festival—the street dancing competition. A total of 11 tribes will showcase their talents, wearing vibrant costumes.
The Biniray Festival is not only a celebration of faith and history but also a significant event for local tourism and economic activity. Residents and visitors are expected to gather for these joyous occasions, making it a memorable experience filled with unity, artistry, and tradition.
The festival will also feature an art exhibit, Romblon Nigh Market happening at Brgy. I, and Romblon Marble Festival.
Different Sports events will also take place during the weeklong celebration.
