The local government of Odiongan, in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), held a teenage pregnancy symposium at Libertad National High School recently to raise awareness among students about the growing concern of teenage pregnancy and its impact on young people’s lives and futures.
The symposium, attended by almost a hundred students, faculty, and local officials, centered on the importance of understanding the risks and consequences associated with teenage pregnancy.
Various programs and initiatives from the Youth Development Office were also shared with the participants, highlighting available resources and support systems for the youth in Odiongan. These programs aim to educate and guide young people toward making informed decisions, promoting responsible behavior, and reducing teenage pregnancies.
The symposium also served as an opportunity to foster open discussions among students, allowing them to voice their thoughts and concerns on the topic.
This event is part of the local government’s broader efforts to create awareness and provide accessible resources to the youth, ensuring that they have the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges they face during adolescence. The initiative also aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting a safe and supportive environment for young people in Odiongan.
