The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Romblon distributed livelihood assistance yesterday to 2,225 residents of San Andres, Romblon, as part of its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). Each beneficiary received PHP 10,000, amounting to a total distribution of P22.25 million for the municipality.
According to Gare Gaa, SLP Coordinator in Romblon, the government-provided funds are meant to help beneficiaries establish or improve their small businesses and livelihoods, allowing them to overcome financial challenges and improve their quality of life.
The distribution event in San Andres was attended by key local officials, including Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, Vice Governor Armando Gutierrez, and Mayor Arsenio Gadon. The local government and barangay captains expressed their gratitude to the DSWD for its continuous support of sustainable development in the community.
Meanwhile, the DSWD extended similar assistance to 348 residents of Odiongan, Romblon, today, granting P10,000 to each beneficiary. This additional distribution totaled P3.48 million, bringing the overall assistance provided in the two municipalities to P25.73 million. During the distribution in Odiongan, Gaa reiterated the importance of using the funds wisely.
Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic attended the activity together with Vice Mayor Diven Dimaala.
In addition to the cash aid, DSWD Romblon is also set to distribute more than P22.25 million of livelihood assistance to Odiongan residents on Friday.
