The government continues its efforts to run after the terrorists in the MIMAROPA region as it calls on the remaining communist terrorists to go back to the fold of the law and live a peaceful life.
Recently, two members of the terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro by government authorities following a joint law enforcement operation by the Philippine Army’s 76th Infantry Battalion (76IB), 2nd Oriental Mindoro Provincial Mobile Force Company, Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office, and Bongabong Municipal Police Station.
The operation, conducted on October 26, led to the arrest of Jay Maligo Fran alias “Rio/Roco” and Kelvin Joaquin alias “Lauro/Rigor,” who have a warrant of arrest for rebellion or insurrection issued by Oriental Mindoro Regional Trial Court Branch 42.
The two arrested terrorists, who were revealed by their former comrades, were remnants of Ignacio Calabria Magadia (ICM) and Main Regional Guerilla Unit (MRGU), Sub Regional Military Area (SRMA) 4D, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC), Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrex G. Molina, the Division Public Affairs Office chief, said in a press release.
Accordingly, the arresting officers seized in their possession a Cal .45 pistol, an improvised explosive device, personal equipment, electronic gadgets, and subversive documents.
Molina said that the arrest of the two terrorists as revealed by former CTG members “will ultimately contribute to the group’s declining morale.”
Meanwhile, the 2ID encourages the remaining CPP-NPA-NDF members to surrender to the government and avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) for their future and their family’s well-being. (ALG/With story and photos from 2ID-Phil. Army)
