“Kapag may isinuksok, may madudukot.” (When something is set aside, there will be something to draw from.) This is one of the Filipino sayings our elders always remind us of. The discipline of setting aside a portion of one’s income or allowance for a specific purpose is defined by the Bangko Sentral of the Philippines (BSP) as savings.
Whatever the goal is, whether for an emergency, a financial goal, or a trip to your dream destination, it is imperative to keep your well-earned money on a safe platform, such as the Pag-IBIG Fund’s MP2 Savings.
What is MP2 Savings?
MP2, or Modified Pag-IBIG 2 Savings, is a special savings facility for active Pag-IBIG Fund members who want to save money in addition to their regular Pag-IBIG savings.
It is also open to former Pag-IBIG Fund members, such as pensioners and retirees, who have at least 24 monthly savings before retirement.
Pag-IBIG Fund Calapan City Branch head Donald F. Alilio explained what makes MP2 Savings an ideal place to keep our money.
“Napakagandang investment vehicle [ng MP2 Savings], dahil nakasisiguro ako na lahat tayo na nag-iipon, ang ating iniisip lagi, ‘saan ba yung secured na savings vehicle?. Saan ba yung maganda ang kita na pag-iipunan? Ito po ang handog ng Pag-IBIG Fund — ang MP2,” Alilio emphasized during the Philippine Information Agency’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas held in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
(MP2 Savings is a wonderful investment vehicle. I’m sure that all of us who are saving money, are wondering where we can safely keep our money and earn. MP2 is what Pag-IBIG Fund offers.)
MP2 not only promises the safety of your money; it also promises dividends higher than the regular savings program of Pag-IBIG Fund, as the agency sets aside at least 70 percent of its annual net income and credits for this purpose.
In 2023, MP2 Savings reached a 7.05 percent return rate, Alilio said.
Applications for MP2 Savings can be done online through the Virtual Pag-IBIG application or their website. With a minimum amount of P500, you can start your MP2 Savings journey, and the first step in becoming financially secure.
