The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA concluded a successful trade event designed to introduce local entrepreneurs and artisans to a broader market in Metro Manila.
The four-day “Tatak Pinoy: OBRA MIMAROPA” trade show, held at the Glorietta Activity Center from October 24 to 27, 2024, showcased a range of products, from marble crafts and handicrafts to regional delicacies and visual arts.
Approximately 50 exhibitors, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Palawan, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque, took part in the event. Additionally, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) MIMAROPA brought products from their livelihood programs, featuring items like coconut shell decor, lampshades, baskets, and crocheted goods made by persons deprived of liberty.
DTI Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona praised DTI MIMAROPA for its impactful programs supporting regional economic development, while MSMEs expressed gratitude for DTI’s assistance in promoting their local products.
“This trade fair has helped us gain recognition for our products,” shared Rosemarie Casa from Romblon. Chrisa Palma from Oriental Mindoro added, “It’s beneficial for promoting our products beyond our local area, reaching new audiences.”
According to DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Rodolfo Mariposque, the event generated over PHP 6 million in sales, with Sea Warriors Furniture, an MSME assisted by DTI Romblon, achieving top sales of over PHP 1 million.
Alongside the trade fair, the Bongabong Public Market in Oriental Mindoro was named MIMAROPA’s Most Consumer-Friendly Public Market during the first Pamilihang Bayan ng Bidang Mamimili Awards. Additionally, national recognition was awarded to the region’s winners at the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index.
The Tatak Pinoy: OBRA MIMAROPA trade show is a new DTI initiative, building on the success of the MIMAROPA Naturally Agri-Trade and Tourism Fair, which was held in Metro Manila from 2015 to 2019. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
