Romblon State University together with the Inner Wheel Club of Romblon District 382 and the Rotary Club of Manila Binondo Prime have launched a project to install communal toilets in Sitio Dayongdong, Barangay Cawayan, San Agustin, and Sitio Cabibihan, Barangay Talisay, Calatrava, Romblon.
The Inner Wheel Club of Romblon and Rotary Club of Manila Binondo Prime sponsor toilet bowls, and RSU will sponsor the structures.
The initiative is part of RSU’s “Zero Open Defecation and Water Access for Isolated Communities” (ZODWAY) program, which aims to improve sanitation and reduce health risks caused by open defecation in isolated areas.
The project kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony recently held in those Sitios.
In addition to the toilet installation, the groups also carried out an outreach program, distributing school supplies, footwear, and food packs to elementary school students.
To further formalize the partnership, RSU, the Inner Wheel Club of Romblon District 382, and the Rotary Club of Manila Binondo Prime signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) strengthening their commitment to support Sitio Dayongdong and Sitio Cabibihan, not only with sanitation improvements but also through continuous sustainable social activities aimed at improving the overall well-being of these communities.
