The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Romblon has unveiled the Romblon Health Care Provider Network during a two-day Health Consultative Meeting held on September 21-22, 2024. The network aims to enhance healthcare services across the province by establishing a unified and integrated system.
The event, attended by key officials such as Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, Vice Governor Armando Gutierrez, and other local government leaders, marked a significant step towards improving the province’s healthcare infrastructure.
Governor Jose Riano, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of collaboration among health service providers and government officials to create a seamless healthcare system for Romblon’s residents. He pointed out that the new healthcare network would streamline services, making them more accessible and efficient for communities throughout the province.
Dr. Renato Menrige Jr., PHO In-Charge of Health Systems highlighted its focus on improving the province’s referral system. The integrated approach will ensure that patients can receive timely and appropriate medical care across Romblon’s health facilities, thus enhancing overall service delivery.
Also during the meeting, Dr. Lino Viola, Officer-in-Charge of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) II, presented a comprehensive overview of the Provincial Health System, highlighting recent developments within the province’s eight hospitals. Dr. Deogarcias Muleta, the PHO In-Charge of Health Service Delivery, provided updates on the implementation of various provincial health programs, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to improve community health outcomes.
PhilHealth, represented by Regional Vice President Atty. Jerry Ibay, also provided updates during the meeting on accreditation statuses and payments to health facilities within Romblon. Ensuring timely reimbursements was stressed as a key element in sustaining the operations of healthcare providers under the new network.
An open forum allowed local officials to voice concerns regarding the healthcare system, while the Provincial Health Office and Governor Riano responded to these issues, reaffirming their commitment to addressing healthcare challenges and improving services. The Department of Health (DOH) MiMaRoPa, represented by Director Dr. Mario Baquilod, also provided recommendations and support, further strengthening the collaboration between local and national health agencies.
