The province of Romblon has recorded two fatalities due to dengue, according to the latest data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU). The deaths were reported in the municipalities of San Fernando and Cajidiocan on Sibuyan Island.
From August 13 to 22, an additional 75 dengue cases were reported across the province, bringing the total number of cases for the year to 793. This is still lower than the 1,110 cases recorded during the same period last year.
San Agustin has reported the highest number of cases with 222, followed by Odiongan with 130 cases. The majority of those affected are between the ages of 1 and 20 years old.
The PESU continues to remind the public to follow the 5S strategy to prevent dengue, which includes searching for and destroying mosquito breeding sites, implementing self-protection measures, seeking early consultation when symptoms appear, supporting fogging or spraying during outbreaks, and sustaining hydration while monitoring symptoms, especially during the rainy season.
