Around 3,988 low-income earners from seven towns in Romblon received financial assistance on August 26 under the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, Romblon Congressman Eleandro Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, and local mayors were present to oversee the distribution.
Abegail Fetilo, the Social Welfare and Development Team Leader, encouraged beneficiaries to use the aid wisely, expressing hope that it would help ease their struggles with inflation. AKAP is designed to support various goods and services affected by inflation, tailored to individual needs.
“Hopefully, you feel the presence of our government, helping to alleviate the financial problems we face daily. AKAP is just one of the DSWD programs assisting, with support from other government agencies as well,” Fetilo stated.
She also expressed gratitude to Congresswoman Villar for her efforts in securing funding for the program to benefit the residents of the towns of San Agustin, Romblon, Santa Maria, Calatrava, Santa Fe, Alcantara and Looc.
In her speech, Congresswoman Villar reaffirmed her commitment to continuing to work on enacting laws and providing support to those in need.
