Nineteen barangays in the municipality of Odiongan, Romblon experienced flooding last Thursday due to heavy rains brought by a low-pressure area affecting the province.
According to the Odiongan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), only the barangays of Rizal, Pato-o, Progreso Este, Progreso Weste, and Amatong, which are situated in highland areas, were spared from the flooding.
The flooding forced the evacuation of 75 families from the barangays of Mayha, Tabobo-an, Budiong, and Poctoy. As of Friday, the affected families have returned to their homes.
Additionally, the Odiongan MDRRMO reported landslides in the barangays of Patoo, Rizal, Canduyong, Progreso Weste, and Panique.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated that the low-pressure area brought heavy rains to the Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Marinduque, and Romblon on Thursday.
The rains persisted from 2 AM until the morning, causing continuous downpours across the province.
Aside from Odiongan, several barangays in the towns of Ferrol and San Andres also reported flooding.
