The provincial board of Palawan has officially declared social media influencers Rosmar Tan and Rendon Labrador persona non grata following a controversial incident in Coron.
The declaration follows a chaotic charity drive organized by the influencers on June 14 in Coron, where they promised to distribute grocery packs and cash. However, due to a lack of coordination with local government officials, the event descended into disorder, compromising safety, security, and logistics.
As a result, many residents who attended the event did not receive the promised aid.
The situation escalated when municipal employee Jho Cayabyab Trinidad criticized the influencers for their mismanagement on social media. In response, Tan and Labrador confronted Trinidad at the Coron municipal hall, leading to a public altercation.
Despite their subsequent apology, local officials and netizens have expressed ongoing outrage. The provincial board’s resolution reflects the community’s sentiment, with some even calling for a boycott of Tan’s beauty products.
