Agriculture and livelihood opportunities are among the top issues slated for discussion at the 2024 Regional Bagong Pilipinas Town Hall Meeting, scheduled to take place in Odiongan, Romblon, on May 31.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Frederick Gumabol told PIA Romblon that these focal issues emerged from an online survey targeting civil society organizations in the province.
Gumabol stated that approximately 200 participants from various civil society organizations will attend the event, alongside representatives from different regional line agencies.
“This event is very important because the problems that need to be solved by government agencies will come directly from the representatives of the CSOs,” Gumabol remarked, emphasizing the importance of the event as it allows CSO representatives to directly voice the problems that require government solutions.
The event will feature speakers from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Provincial Agriculture Office, who will share their insights on these critical issues.
Additionally, the event will be live-streamed on the official social media pages of the Philippine Information Agency – Mimaropa, Department of Interior and Local Government – Mimaropa, Department of Budget and Management – Mimaropa, and Romblon News Network, ensuring wider accessibility and engagement from the public.
Launched in 2019, the Dagyaw town hall meetings aim to provide a safe space or neutral ground for CSOs and the community to discuss national and local issues. This marks the first time that the province of Romblon will host the event.
