Different agricultural products from Romblon were showcased at the Kadiwa ng Pangulo para sa Manggagawa event held at Children’s Park and Paradise in Odiongan, Romblon on Monday. This initiative, part of the 2024 Labor Day celebrations, aims to empower local farmers, fisherfolk, and MSMEs by providing them a platform to directly promote and sell their goods to consumers.
Led by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Romblon, the event is a collaborative effort among various government agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Provincial Government of Romblon, and the Local Government of Odiongan.
DOLE said that the program underscores the importance of supporting Filipino workers and entrepreneurs in the nation’s progress.
The nationwide simultaneous event will run until May 3, 2024, providing an extended opportunity for consumers to access locally sourced products. Additionally, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold a Diskwento Caravan on May 2 as part of the program’s activities.
During the event, DOLE Romblon Provincial Director Philip Ruga emphasized that the program’s success hinges on its effective implementation.
