The municipality of Odiongan in Romblon province has experienced significant growth and development under the leadership of Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic, who is currently serving her third term.
Fabic shared her key accomplishments and milestones during her speech at the coronation night of the Binibing Odiongan 2024 on Thursday, April 4.
Since assuming office in 2016, Mayor Firmalo-Fabic noted a substantial increase in registered businesses, from less than 1,000 to over 2,237 as of March 31 of this year.
Furthermore, Odiongan has received national recognition for its governance and efficiency. The municipality was awarded Top 2 ranking in government efficiency nationwide by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). Mayor Firmalo-Fabic expressed her pride in this achievement, emphasizing that such recognition was previously unimaginable.
In addition to its economic success, Odiongan has also excelled in other areas.
The municipality has been recognized as the most competitive in the Mimaropa region and has received the Green Banner Seal of Compliance Award from the National Nutrition Council for its efforts in reducing malnutrition rates among children.
Mayor Firmalo-Fabic highlighted the significant decrease in malnutrition rates, from 6% to 2.3%, as evidence of Odiongan’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of its residents.
Firmalo-Fabic also shared that Odiongan has been honored with the Gawad Kalasag award for its exemplary disaster risk reduction and management measures in 2023.
“Dumaan po sa atin ang Covid-19, ang ASF, ang mga bagyo, at iba pa pero nakakayanan po natin. We are resilient,” Firmalo-Fabic said.
Mayor Firmalo-Fabic emphasized the collaborative efforts of the community in achieving these successes. She attributed Odiongan’s progress not only to its leaders but also to the active participation and cooperation of its residents.
In her message, Mayor Firmalo-Fabic called for continued support and unity from the community. She expressed confidence that with collective effort and cooperation, Odiongan will reach even greater heights of success and prosperity.
