The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concreting of a farm-to-market road (FMR) project which is now promoting easier access and convenient transportation of agricultural products and goods for farmers and local entrepreneurs in Sitio Agnonoc, Barangay Tampayan, Magdiwang, Romblon.
“With a total length of 386.8 meters and road width of 5 meters, the 2-lane access road is expected to improve and promote better and safer transport for farmers, merchants, and residents of Barangay Tampayan and neighboring areas”, said DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan in his update to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
Before completing this FMR project, road access for the residents of Sitio Agnonoc has been a constant challenge passing an unpaved road susceptible to accidents and affecting the delivery of farm products.
Implemented by the DPWH Romblon District Engineering Office, scope of works of the FMR Project includes the construction of portland cement concrete pavement road on aggregate sub-base course with polymer-based chemical soil additive, and the installation of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings as road safety component.
Costing P11.9 Million, the farm-to-market road in Sitio Agnonoc is funded through the 2023 DPWH Infrastructure Program.
