The Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) in Romblon kicked off its community and school-based immunization campaign at Odiongan National High School on Friday.
The launch event saw the vaccination of several high school students against HPV-related diseases, drawing participation from various stakeholders.
HPV, known to be a leading cause of cervical cancer and other illnesses, presents a significant public health concern globally.
Ralph Falculan from PDOHO Romblon highlighted the campaign’s focus on girls aged 9 to 14 years, underlining the importance of early immunization in effectively combating HPV infections.
In the coming days and weeks, Rural Health Units across different towns in Romblon will visit communities to administer vaccinations to girls in the area.
