Vice Mayor Diven Dimaala aspires to adopt the best practices of the renowned surfing capital of the Philippines, Siargao in a bid to further boost tourism in the town of Odiongan
Dimaala, alongside members of the Municipal Council, recently conducted a benchmarking activity in Siargao, exploring various attractions, including the Del Carmen Mangrove Reserve.
According to Dimaala, Odiongan also have extensive mangrove forests, particularly in barangay Libertad, which are currently being developed by the local government with assistance from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
This eco-friendly mangrove reserve is poised to become an asset for Odiongan, especially since the town cannot compete with other towns in terms of white sand beaches.
Aside from exploring tourist attractions, the group also examined the transportation infrastructure in the area to make comparisons with the current state of transportation in Odiongan.
Dimaala added that the insights gained from this benchmarking activity will aid in the town’s efforts to enhance its tourism sector.
