Inflation in Romblon spiked to 7.4% in August 2023, marking a noticeable 1% increase compared to the previous month’s rate. The surge in the inflation rate was confirmed in a press release from PSA Romblon.
Several factors contributed to this uptick, with the primary drivers being the following: food and non-alcoholic beverages; alcoholic beverages and tabacco; clothing and footwear; furnishings, and household equipment and routine maintenance of the house.
Additionally, inflationary trends were observed in various other commodity groups such as health, transportation, recreation and culture, restaurants and accommodation services, and personal care and miscellaneous goods and services.
It can also be noted that the commodity group that experienced the highest inflationary impact was Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, with a staggering 20.2% increase in August.
These inflationary pressures reflect the current economic conditions in Romblon and may have varying effects on the cost of living for its residents.
