The Local Government Unit (LGU) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) hired 50 students to work during their summer break as part of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) of the government.
The LGU of Odiongan, together with DOLE MIMAROPA through its Romblon Provincial Office, facilitated an orientation for the selected students at the Odiongan Municipal Hall recently. The purpose of the orientation was to provide the students with the necessary information and guidelines for their employment under the SPES.
Starting from July 17, the students will be assigned to various offices within the municipality, where they will be engaged in productive work.
They will receive a daily wage of P483.59, totaling P9,671.80 for a 20-day working period. The funding for their salaries will be shared between the LGU, covering 60%, and DOLE MIMAROPA, providing the remaining 40%.
During the orientation, the students were briefed on important aspects such as proper dress code, work etiquette, and how to interact professionally with clients.
The program also ensures that the students are covered by insurance through the Government Service Insurance System – Group Personal Accident Insurance (GSIS-GPAI) for the duration of their employment, which spans one year. (with reports from DOLE Romblon)
