The local government unit of Odiongan joined the global observance of World Preeclampsia Day with an enlightening event held today, featuring a lecture by Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist, Dr. Marie Scent Vera Fopalan-Benedicto.
The Municipal Hall Conference Room (Bulwagan) was filled with attendees, including Dr. Jeremiah Morgado, staff from the Rural Health Unit, and pregnant mothers.
During the lecture, Dr. Benedicto emphasized the significance of early detection and treatment of preeclampsia, a condition that poses risks to pregnant women.
She stressed that with timely identification, preeclampsia can be effectively managed through appropriate medication.
To ensure a healthy pregnancy, she encouraged pregnant women to prioritize regular check-ups and close monitoring by their healthcare providers.
Pregnant women were urged to be vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms associated with preeclampsia like high blood pressure, swelling, headaches, abdominal pain, changes in vision, and decreased fetal movement.
In addition to the informative lecture, the live-streamed broadcast allowed online viewers to benefit from the knowledge shared by Dr. Benedicto.
