In commemoration of the Month of the Ocean, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) took the lead in organizing a coastal clean-up drive in Barangay Budiong in Odiongan, Romblon last May 20. The event aimed to raise awareness about marine conservation and promote sustainability under the theme “Sustainability Feed The Global Population.”
Personnel from various national government agencies, together with volunteers, including students, joined forces in the clean-up drive. For nearly two hours, they collected trash and debris along the shoreline.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Santa Maria also conducted a separate volunteer program and community clean-up drive. The event received support from municipal officials, department heads, employees, staff, and various volunteer organizations.
These initiatives in Odiongan and Santa Maria showcased the commitment of their respective organizations to environmental stewardship.
