The government is temporarily suspending non-essential travel into and out of the National Capital Region and the adjacent provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal starting March 22 to April 4.
Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution No. 104 said that this will prevent the transmission of Covid-19 to other parts of the country.
“Public transportation shall remain to be operational at such capabilities and protocols in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Transportation,” written on the resolution.
Roque said that only authorized persons outside their residences will be allowed such as essential workers, health and emergency frontline services personnel, gov’t officials and gov’t frontline personnel, duly-authorized humanitarian assistance actors, persons travel for medical or humanitarian reasons, persons going to the airport for abroad, anyone crossing zones for work or business and going back home, and ROFs and OFWs.
In a briefing on Sunday, Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the proposal has been approved by President Rodrigo Duterte.
As of March 21, the Department of Health recorded new 7,757 new cases making the total active Covid-19 cases in the country to 73,072.
