The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) formally turns over on Thursday, November 7, three school buildings in Romblon province.
Romblon Governor Jose Riano, Provincial Administrator Lizette Mortel and Pagcor AVP for Corporate Social Responsibility Group Rina Carreon lead the turnover ceremony held in three major islands of the province.
Progreso Este Elementary School in the town of Odiongan and San Fernando Elementary School in the town of San Fernando recieved one-storey five-classroom building from the agency to cater more than 400 pupils.
Meanwhile, Romblon National High School (RNHS) received a four-storey twenty-classroom building from Pagcor that will cater more than 500 senior high school students.
The said school building in RNHS is the first of its kind in the province, as this also houses the school’s faculty room and library. RNHS had to make do with only 54 old and dilapidated classrooms to accommodate its enrollees before the building was built and completed in 2018.
According to Governor Jose Riano, before the building was built, students from RNHS hold classes in two shifts (morning and afternoon) due to lack of learning spaces. Now, the students enjoy whole-day classes.
