As part of the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month this October, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Romblon spearheaded a Consumer Congress at the Senior Citizen Hall in Odiongan on October 8-9.
According to DTI-Romblon Provincial Director Noel DR. Flores, the congress with the theme ‘Sustainable Consumption: Understanding the Impact of Consumer’s Choices in a Shared Environment’, is part of their consumer education and awareness campaign to update the public regarding their rights.
Representatives from the federation of senior citizens, businessmen, hardware stores, students, persons with disabilities (PWDs) attended the event.
Government agencies such as Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Senior Citizens’ Affairs Office (OSCA), Bureau of Products Standards, and Bureau of Internal Revenue were also invited to present their programs.
The DTI is also set to conduct a Consumer Fun Run on October 26, as also part of the Consumer Welfare Month celebration.
