Residents of Looc, Romblon can now access the internet for free through the newly installed Free Public Wifi of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in town.
DICT Romblon Provincial Officer Engr. Racquiel G. Aguba and Looc Mayor Lisette Arboleda lead the switch-on ceremony of the free public wifi installed at Municipal town hall through the Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project of the department.
The free public access wifi is in accordance of the Republic Act 10929 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte which provides free internet access in public places throughout the country.
DICT also opened its first Tech4ED Center which means ‘Technology for Education to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic development’, the place where individuals can access information, communication, technology, government services, non-formal education, skills training, telehealth, job markets, and business portals in Looc, Romblon.
“Tinugon po nila yung ating panawagan para po matulungan yung taga Looc, yung mga mag aaral natin at lahat ng indibidwal na magkaroon ng access sa makabagong teknolohiya,” Mayor Arboleda said.
