Continuous heavy rains brought by a low pressure area has rendered the Balolo Detour Bridge in Barangay Guadalupe, Coron, Palawan unpassable.
According to regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Subair S. Diron, the Balolo Detour Bridge located at KM0013+913 was washed out by floodwaters.
The DPWH Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) team has been deployed to undertake repair works and were instructed to assist stranded commuters.
Meanwhile, the Bataclan Detour Bridge at KM0026+215 in Barangay Bintuan, also in Coron, which was earlier closed to vehicular traffic, has been cleared and declared passable.
Diron said all district engineering offices in the region are monitoring rainfall warnings and the weather’s possible effects on national roads and bridges. (PNA)
