The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Mimaropa marked a significant step towards unified communication and effective delivery of information between various National Government Agencies (NGAs), Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), and local media in the region, through the conduct of the 2nd Mimaropa Communicators Network.
Information officers and other representatives from different agencies showed support throughout the half day activity held at the Conference Hall, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Mimaropa Building, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on November 10.
Building a communication network for information officers is crucial in various contexts, as it enhances their ability to perform their roles effectively.
“Information officers play a key role in disseminating information, managing public relations, and representing organizations or government agencies,” these were the key points of PIA Mimaropa OIC Regional Director Dr. Luis T. Cueto’s message during the opening of the activity.
Deputy Regional Director Gene Ace T. Sapit discussed unified communication to promote effective collaboration among government agencies while increasing overall operational efficiency. He added the importance of identifying fake news through the ‘Stop and Spot Approach’ and shared important tips in order to dismiss disinformation.
Voltaire Dequina, Information Center Manager of PIA Occidental Mindoro, shared some insights during his tenure as a disc jockey. Dequina also emphasized the importance of information officers when it comes to disseminating and promoting developmental news. He also added that information officers should be the one leading the line in promoting the programs and projects that benefit the citizens of the government.
It is expected that after this activity, sharing and dissemination of information between different national agencies and media partners will be seamless which in turn will be crucial in contributing to proactive citizenship, national progress, and better quality of life for Filipinos.
